Notice of Regular Meeting of February 8, 2025

The Hawthorne Lawndale Gardena Republican Assembly (HLGRA) is proud to again present, as our trainer, Arlene Wohlgemuth, former 10-year member of the Texas House of Representatives and Executive Director of the Texas Public Policy Foundation. She will be conducting a training session from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The training will show us how to identify bills being proposed in the California legislature, most of which do not comport with Conservative principles, how to track those bills, and how to voice our opinion at a time in the legislative process when it can make a difference. IS IT BAD ENOUGH YET? THE DISASTROUS POLICIES IN CALIFORNIA HAVE LED TO THE FIRE CATASTROPHE WE HAVE JUST WITNESSED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!
What we are seeing play out as a disastrous fire catastrophe that has taken at least twenty-eight lives and leveled 17,000 structures in Los Angeles County, is the result of policy failures from Sacramento to the City of Los Angeles. As citizens of Los Angeles County, these are some questions to which we need answers:
WHY HAS THE STATE FAILED TO CLEAN UP BRUSH IN WILDFIRE AREAS?
WHY DID GOVERNOR NEWSOM DISMANTLE 4 DAMS IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA?
WHY DID GOVERNOR NEWSOM REFUSE TO SIGN A WATER DECLARATION PROPOSED BY PRESIDENT TRUMP IN 2019 THAT WOULD HAVE ALLOWED MILLIONS OF GALLONS OF WATER TO FLOW FROM THE SNOW MELT IN THE NORTH INTO MANY PARTS OF CALIFORNIA?
WHY WAS THE PACIFIC PALISADES RESERVOIR EMPTY AND CLOSED FOR REPAIR, RESULTING IN EMPTY FIRE HYDRANTS WHEN THE FIRE BROKE OUT?
WHY DOES THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES HAVE FEWER FIRE STATIONS THAN IN 1960 EVEN THOUGH THE POPULATION HAS DOUBLED?

This is an invitation to join the Hawthorne Lawndale Gardena Republican Assembly (HLGRA). We are a growing chapter of the California Republican Assembly (CRA), having just been formed in March, 2023. We are working to inform and educate the public about Republican philosophy, beliefs and principles. Our mission includes recruiting, endorsing and electing well-qualified Republican candidates for public office from Hawthorne, Lawndale, and Gardena. Candidates for all public offices are encouraged to speak at our meetings. We also welcome as members, patriots from throughout the Los Angeles County area.

We will be continuing our PRECINCT WALKING and VOTER REGISTRATION programs. Precinct walking allows us to meet the voters in our own neighborhood and engage them with issues that affect them directly, such as safety, dense housing, and homelessness. This activity will continue to be done on a regular basis in 2025. Our Precinct Walks were well-received last year. Walking and meeting voters is our best chance to FLIP SEATS! It is also an important tool to inform Republicans about issues and candidates.
